The action of the play takes place in an emergency department of a hospital, where a young couple is preparing for the birth of their first child, and an older couple is waiting for the identification of a corpse. A psychological drama with Nordic intonations gradually unfolds into a philosophical parable, while it turns out that there is much more in common between the two couples than one might suppose.

Near future. Seryozha teaches at a university, and he faces the death penalty for an intimate relationship with twenty-year-old Ilona. It will be performed by Sasha - a programmed machine gun that should someday shoot him in the back. When will that happen? The answer is in the play.
